blood test for gestional diabetes preparation. 27weeks pregnant?
I am going for my pregnancy diabetes blood test on the 12th. My nurse did not give me any instructions. Do I need to fast for that? drinks? how long do I need to fast if needed. I appreciate your help. thank you so much

If this is your first gestational diabetes test you dont need to do anything to prepare. The lab supplies the drink. If you fail then you’ll need some preparation to do the next test which is a 3 hour
they should have given u bottle which u are suppose to drink 15 min before ur appointment. dont eat or drink anything after midnight the day before ur app. if they havent given u the drink go a bit early and they will give it to u there.
if yu have to do wht i did.. they’ll give yu some kinda sugar water nd yu cant eat or drink nething after yu have tht for one hour. then yu go back nd they take blood… yu dont need to fast lol.. but who knows it might be different 4 yu.
Nope, you don’t need to do anything. Just make sure you eat normally so they will have an accurate reading. If you fail this test you will have to take the 3 hour fast test.
yes you have to fast supposing you are having the test in the Morning you have to fast from when you go to bed (normal times) until after the test is complete i suggest you take something to eat for after the test. you can drink water as well.
Your doctor should have told you but you are supposed to fast, (don’t eat or drink anything except water all night after midnight and go do it first thing in the morning) . They take blood then you drink a sugary drink (the lab gives it to you) and an hour later they take blood again.
You have your blood taken then you drink this glucose drink. You wait i think an hour and a half and have your blood taken again. I shows how well your body manages you sugar levels.

My doctor told me to fast for 12 hours, so I skipped dinner the night before and went when I woke up the next day. I did have some water, but not much.
Once there, you drink an orange drink, wait an hour (so bring something to entertain yourself) and then you get blood drawn. Good luck!
What will happen is you have to drink this nasty tasting juice. You have to keep it down for at least an hour in which they will call you back in and draw your blood and you are done. They will let you know your results at the next appointment unless you do have gestational diabetes.
They are highly incorrect. You need to call and find out how long you have to fast. You can only have water for a certain amount of time. I went in chewing gum and was sent home and had to return the following day.
